A Decade of Chibis

A Decade of Chibis

Hey everyone! Happy New Years – and happy new decade! Yep, 2020 is finally here, we are in the future, it’s official. I’ve been working furiously on Flowery Dreams, you know, the coloring book I’ve working on for the past 100 years? Yeah that one. I am now confident in a 2020 release, and am nearly done with all the pages. All that left is the cover design, book formatting, promo images, checking proof copies, making flipthrough videos, collapsing from sheer exhaustion and overwhelming artists’ block. It’s all gonna be great! *two thumbs up*

So anyway, most of the artists that I follow online have been doing 2010 vs. 2020 posts (the ones actually old enough to be able to do stuff like that) and I was inspired to try one of my own! And so I dug through my DeviantArt account archives, wondering what I was up to during 2010 anyway. It’s been so long. And this is what I found!

A decade of chibis….has it really been so long?

Meet Chloe, my first ever chibi! Well, not the first chibi I ever drew, but the first one done in what would eventually become my signature ‘style’. She was based off of an old browser-based game called Poupeegirl (which has sadly since been shut down) which was a Japanese dress-up doll game with loads of lolita, mori-girl, harajuku and other cute styles. I was pretty obsessed with the game and when I found out that people were selling art commissions for in-game currency, I knew that I wanted in. So I drew my own doll, Chloe, as a sample.

Chloe, ready to be colored!

My chibis became popular enough that I banked loads of Ribbons (Poupeegirl currency) and also decided I should maybe start doing art commissions for real people money as well. And thus my career as a chibi artist was launched.

Ten years later and I have found my calling as a coloring book artist. I decided to draw Chloe again, but not to color her, and to release her as a new coloring page instead! I feel that really speaks to my art journey and what I’ve accomplished over these 10 years – and also because it would be faster to do, because coloring adds on at least 3-4 hours! *womp, womp*

Chloe is available for coloring – click for the full-size image!

You can download the linearts for digital coloring, or print them for traditional coloring and/or card making. You can upload your finished, colored image or photo anywhere on the web as long as credit and/or link back is provided! If you tag or message me on any of my social media pages I’ll like it and maybe share it to my page! On DeviantArt I’ll add the work to my coloring Fanclub. I love seeing the creativity that goes into the coloring process!

Please note that my linearts are for personal, non-commercial use only. Do not download the lineart and upload it somewhere else uncolored. If you want to share my lineart, link back. Do not submit your coloring of my lineart as a print, or as a t-shirt on a site like Zazzle or Etsy. If you’re interested in a collaboration to sell stuff with my work, contact me and we’ll see if something can be worked out.

If you’re not sure about anything, just contact me!
