5 reasons I am Glad Etsy Disabled my Shop (and why I Opened a Gumroad Account instead)

There’s a reason why content creators and influencers are often warned not to ‘put all their eggs in one basket’. We’re only ever one hacker away from our work being lost forever. Our accounts can be disabled by any faceless moderator employed by the multi-million-dollar apps we use to reach our audience and sell our wares. I’m sure you’ve heard of at least one influencer or creator whose account was lost at some point for whatever reason, and it may have even happened to you. (more…)

DTIYS Challenges and New Coloring Page

I've had a great time this summer with some DTIYS challenges on Instagram. It's been a really fun way to kind of kick back and get creative without having to design a character, think of a pose, or come up with an outfit. As well, I've enjoyed trying to let the art style of the DTIYS challengers influence my chibi style. I've tried to be a little more fluid and less same-y with the chibis I've drawn. I think as artists it can be easy to get stuck into a kind of comfort zone or style that just works for…

Flowery Dreams: New Coloring Book Release!

Flowery Dreams: New Coloring Book Release!

A long time in coming, it with great pleasure that I can finally announce the release of Flowery Dreams! I've been wanting to complete a trio of 'Dreams' books since publishing Carousel Dreams & Sugary Dreams. My first concept was Flowery Dreams, but I lost interest and dropped it. I then gave 'Galaxy Dreams' a try - it was fun but I ran out of ideas quickly and ended up with just a handful of illustrations. Time passed, and I found myself thinking about flowers again. I made a new file called 'Flower Coloring Book' and decided to give it…

Magical Girl Digital Coloring Pack

One of the best things about having an ongoing project - like the coloring book I'm currently working on - is being able to procrastinate on it by doing other, newer, unrelated projects! Nothing is quite as motivating as working on something when you're supposed to be working on something else, am I right? The struggle is real I'm nearly done with the groundwork for my flower-themed coloring book Flowery Dreams - I have 18 coloring pages sketched out and things are coming along nicely. Or at least they were when I suddenly decided that I really wanted to draw…

#MerMay – Mermaid Coloring Pages by YamPuff!

Warm weather, springy vibes, and artists everywhere drawing mermaids daily? Must be MerMay! I've always wanted to be one of those artists that can organize themselves in such a way that they can have daily output during a month like MerMay or Junicorn. I've been participating in Inktober for about three years now and the maximum I ever reached was 17 out of 30 drawings for the month. It's just not my thing. In any case, until such a day comes when I can start churning out art like it ain't no thang, I went through my linearts to find…

What I Wish I Knew Before Starting My Zazzle Store!

Websites like Zazzle, Redbubble, Society6 and such are attractive for a multitude of reasons. Risk-free passive income is probably the most alluring aspect. The concept is simple enough; upload your art or designs on various items like t-shirts, mugs, and stickers, then get a share of the profits! Simple right? But as anyone who has ever given it a go will know, it's not quite so simple. I've achieved enough success on Zazzle to have earned a Bronze Pro Seller badge, so I thought I'd share some of the things I've learned along the way. So here's what I wish…

Princess Belle Lineart – Beauty and the Beast

While working on my previous blog post about my collaboration to make princess chibi cookie cutters (which you should definitely check out, if you haven't already) it was brought to my attention that I never finished up my Princess Belle lineart. I have a small but growing collection of Disney Princess linearts, including Cinderella, Elsa, Giselle, Rapunzel and Ariel. I was also previously commissioned to draw Belle, but not in her princess dress. The original Belle sketch is quite old - drawn in 2012 - and I often get requests from people who want to color her in, even though…

Princess Chibi Cookie Cutters Collab!

I'm really excited to share this collaboration with you all! Over the years I have been absolutely blown away with the incredible talent of the people using my linearts - besides being colored, people have turned my chibis into beautiful handmade cards, cross-stitch patterns, tattoos, and even bookmarks! But for the first time ever, you can now EAT my art! Yes, you heard me correctly. My collaboration with Cookies Art by Shirlyn has lead to the creation of Princess Chibi Cookie Cutters! If you are of a baking disposition you could make some tasty princess chibi cookies...and eat them, too.…

Inktober 2017 Illustrations

Well, this year's Inktober is finally over for me. There are a few days left in October, but I am feeling burnt out. Last year I only managed around 6 or 7 illustrations and a few of them were random doodles, so for me to have put up 18 pretty much complete illustrations, inked and with some color - well I'm pretty proud of myself! Maybe next year I'll even finish all 31 days of Inktober. But I know when to call it quits. This year my focus was on coming up with concept art for my new coloring book;…
