My quest to update some of my older linearts that I have recently become unsatisfied with continues!! This week I have redrawn Nehelenia, from Sailor Moon. I like how her design gives the sensation of a dark Sailor Moon, what with the hair buns and the empire waist dress. I redrew the skirt and hair a few times before I was satisfied with it. I think I managed to inject a bit more personality into the character, with her pose as well as her facial expression!

If you know anything about me, you probably know that I am big old Moonie! I did not actually get into Sailor Moon as a kid when the horrible English dub used to play on television, but rather when I was an older teen. I always liked the idea of Sailor Moon but I couldn’t get into it until I got my hands on the subbed and uncensored version. I rewatch my favorite seasons of the show every now and again (Stars and S being my faves) and there’s just something about the whole thing that never gets old. For me, anyway. And my favorite character is Hotaru, aka Sailor Saturn!
I almost didn’t finish this one today due to issues with my Cintiq (my drawing tablet). As much as I adore and love the thing, it has a habit of being a bit finicky and temperamental. You have to update the drivers constantly and simply restarting the computer can mess up the software, so you have to stop and restart the drivers often. Today it got stuck on ‘Precision Mode’ and wouldn’t exit. But, besides random driver issues the drawing itself is responsive, beautiful and smooth and I am so glad I bought it! It really changed my whole workflow even if sometimes I want to throw it out the window!
