My art journey started when I was a little girl. I knew I wanted to be an artist but I didn’t have a clear idea what sort of artist I wanted to be. Over the years I’ve tried a variety of different things. I tried my hand at writing novels. Then I drew some manga short stories and comic strips. At one point I gave food blogging a try. I consistently offered chibi commissions through my DeviantArt page. Over time, one thing began clear; people loved coloring in my lines!
What started as a few linearts that I printed for my cousins to color in ended up as the most powerful driving force behind my art. I began getting requests to make coloring books, but I thought that was just something I could never do and I didn’t give it much thought.
I finally got the push to give coloring books a try when a bad experience at work left me without a job for the year. It was then I began seriously expanding my art business across various social media platforms. I finally decided to give coloring books a try and opened a CreateSpace account. The rest is history!
I found a drive for making coloring books unlike any other pursuit I’ve ever tried. It’s a challenging experience, especially because I insist to do each and every process on my own. I became an editor, a writer, a designer, a colorist, publicist and more, besides just being an artist! I learned how to navigate vectors and brand new software and programs. The process of making a coloring book is an addictive cycle; you get the excitement of the first concept, then the slog through making enough content to fill your book, till you reach the point where you think it will never be done and you’re ready to give up – and then suddenly it all comes together and you’re holding the first proof copy in your hand.
It’s been an amazing journey so far – and it’s not over yet!
What markers do you used? And I loved the picture, it’s pretty!!
Thank you – the picture on this page is colored digitally, with a program called Clip Studio Paint. I sometimes use art markers called Promarkers.
I really love this picture that you have for your about page. Is it available?
Hi! It’s not actually available as a lineart at the moment, but I might be able to upload it, if I still have the original art file. I’ll take a look and see.
Congratulations!!! I always knew you could do it.
